LATINO is an open research infrastructure aimed to support industries and scientific community providing advanced technologies and know-how developed in particle accelerator for research, medical and industrial application.
The infrastructure is composed by 4 laboratories: Radiofrequency, Magnetic measurements, Vacuum and thermal treatment, Mechanical integration. LATINO Provides a wide range of services in these 4 areas. They have been chosen taking into account the demand and needs from potential users and their industrial capabilities. In addition an important factor is the training of scientific / technical personnel.
Local and national industrial fabric is based on small and medium enterprises with high technological skills and capabailties. R&D developed in the LATINO labs could allow the development of new products, open new market segments and more in general improve the general competiveness.
A wide range of economical sectors are interested and there is plenty of potential application: medical, industry, security, environment, cultural heritage.
Latino infrastructure is also a reference for other research institutions that works in advanced technology and particle accelerator.
Regional government LAZIO is co-funding this project for an amount of 1.6M€, through a public call made by Regione Lazio “Infrastrutture Aperte per la Ricerca” that was granted to Latino. The investment will cover the procurement of new instrumentation and the refurbishment of some existing labs.
