Mechanical integration lab
Responsabile: Dr. Valerio Pettinacci
What we offer
Mechanical integration lab provides:
- Steroscopic Laser able to reconstruct geometrical features of small electromechanics components with very high precision in close environment through Computer Aided Design 3D (CAD):
- Ambient Laser Scanner able to reconstruct in CAD large ambients including structural elements (walls, passages, ceilings) as well as any other plants installed inside (cables, pipes etc.).
Technology
This lab is aimed to perform space management and virtual simulations for the installation of components especially for research components inside dedicated environment. Otherwise can provide useful information for the installation of additional components in a given space and/or in a given system.
These activities are besed on the scanning through 3D ambient laser or stereoscopic laser that acquire a cloud of points that are afterwards reconstructed through dedicated softwares. High resolution reverse engineering is one of the most important application as well as quality and dimensional check of complex instrumentation.
The stereoscopic laser will help to properly design mechanical interfaces and crosscheck any kind of potential interference and finding ad-hoc solutions, without using documentation difficult to obtain or in some cases outdated.
The ambient laser for any object and or system to be installed in a given space will be possible to chech the technical feasibility of the installation given all the necessary information such as space compatibility or conformity with safety regulation.
Potential users
Techologies developed within the mechanical integration lab are of interest of companies in the building sector and / or civil and industrial plants as well as companies in mechanical construction.
The lab provides added value service throughout the whole lifecycle of the project giving relevan information on: quality check, mechanical caractherization, reverse engineering, installation design.
